We made it a Full Week!

Wow - hard to believe I've had no glutten, sugar, dairy, caffiene, etc. for over a week. The finding what to eat part isn't that hard, Jay even says he's likes what I've been making for dinner too. It was the mental/emotional part that really got me. When I was tired, i would go for sugar or caffiene to get me through the hump. When I didn't plan my meals properly, I would pop a peice of cheese or have a sandwich. Habits of eating later at night or while watching TV was another habit I had to break through. The cravings have almost all past, but the urge to have a cookie drove me to a health food store in search of something that would satisy. I left with this date/nut round thing that tasted nothing like a cookie, rather disappointing. Luckly thanks to Tony Horton (P90X guy) I found a great recipe for dessert! It's sweet, crunchy, soft, and it' only made of good stuff. I'll share it with the gang tonight!! Good good news, now that I've faced my habits, I'm making changes to relax more, get more sleep, and drink more water. I know my skin is doing much better because I'm wearing less and less makeup each day and I didn't feel tired when I woke up this morning. I can't wait to see the changes that take place this coming week!! Thanks everyone for your support, keep it coming!!

  1. We went for dinner on Sat and Sunday and I did great. Sat was a Japanese restaurant in Hamilton so I had sashimi, maki and seaweed salad. Sunday a girlfriend invited us over and I gave her my restrictions...to which she said "why are you always on a crazy diet when we get together"! But she made roast chicken and roasted root veggies. I brought hummus and gluten free crackers for appetizers and fruit for desert. Worked out well. I've been feeling pretty good, have had a sauna 4 times and on the bike almost every day since I registered. Now one friend wants me to do Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred fitness program. I just might have the energy to do it.

  2. I hope everyone has a good meeting tonight I wish I could be there with you. I had a great week too. I didn't have any urges and I worked out three days. I certainly had more day time energy and the no bloating is awesome. I also haven't had a tummy ache in a week. To top it all off I lost 3.5 pounds!!! Nice way to end the first week. I can't wait to hear about the meeting. Way to go everyone, I love this blogging too!!

    Cheers, Suzanne

  3. I am going to try to post again, haven't been successful on prior attempts. Just have to say that I am feeling good. Had 2 rough days last week with flu like symptoms which may have been withdrawal from the wheat, dairy and sugar. Thankfully didn't have to give up caffeine because I never developed the taste for coffee. Felt for you guys with the headaches.
Energy is higher as of yesterday. Still trying to make this as easy as possible so I am sticking to basic vegan recipes that we already enjoy. I'm game for trying new recipes only when I have the time.
Have had 2 dreams so far in which I had consumed" off the list" items. Boy did I feel guilt, it wasn't at all worth the indulgence!
So now that my subconscious mind has gone there ...I won't have to. ;)

  4. I just got Redstone Fine Meats & Specialty Foods e-newsletter and they have a Valentines Special ( 2 NY strip, 2 lobster tails, appetizer side, dessert for 69.99) So I called them up and they are doing it up gluten/dairy free for me and subbing 1 chicken for 1 beef... pretty awesome. They are in Carlisle and have several gluten free products. Check them out at www.redstonefinemeats.ca.
